The three fundamental colours of metallic gold, white, and black were as inspiration for the design of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Equality Black History Month (2018).

The Retro High Equality Air Jordan 1's leather top is coloured in black and white. There are two pieces to the upper half of the upper: a black top section and a white bottom half. Additional elements include the term "Equality" printed on the heel section of the white midsoles of the sneakers, Carmelo Anthony's Jordan PE insignia on the tongue patch, and a shimmering gold dubrae close to the toe.
