Like their past footwear offerings, the New Balance 2002R BAPE Grey draws inspiration from the streetwear label's well-known design characteristics.

The textile upper is clothed in a variety of grey hues, covered in the ABC camo pattern by BAPE, and fortified with delicate suede overlays. The heel counter has suede panels with the Shark pattern on it. The N logo has silver reflective details, and the shark's teeth are supposedly polished in silver reflection. The front vamp is then embroidered with the BAPE STA logo, which matches the tone of the tumbled leathers just below. The off-white ABZORB midsole provides modest cushioning, while the N-ergy rubber outsole provides stability for the foot.
