When Jackie Robinson took the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers in his Major League Baseball debut in 1948, he broke down the colour barrier in baseball. Nike created the Nike Dunk Low Jackie Robinson in remembrance of the legendary baseball player and civil rights fighter.

The Low Nike Dunk Jackie Robinson sports a Brooklyn Dodgers cap that pays homage to baseball caps from the late 1940s. It features a light grey Durabuck upper, royal blue leather overlays, an embroidered mini-Swoosh at the toe, and a felted side Swoosh. Robinson's well-known statement, "I'm not concerned with you liking or disliking me," appears throughout the design.It is printed in a pattern format and reads, "All I ask is that you respect me as a human being." Robinson's number 42 is stitched at the heel to give it a personalised touch.
