The Nike Dunk Low Siempre Familia is modelled after Mictlān, the nine-layered underworld from Aztec mythology that is comparable to Dante Alighieri's Inferno. The images of an iguana on the heel and the top tone of green reptile-texture represent the occupants of Mictlān's eighth and ninth floors. A colourful multicoloured Swoosh showcases colour schemes and graphic designs typically connected to Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead celebrated in Mexico.
