François Salomon founded Salomon in 1947 in Annecy, France. Salomon pioneered new ski technology, particularly in the realm of alpine boots. Nineteen years after the new technology was introduced at the World Alpine Championships in 1966, Salomon emerged as the go-to binding for ski boots and eventually took the top spot in the world manufacturing rankings in 1972. Salomon has become a byword for hiking these days, and its shoes have not only pioneered the sport but also made a significant impact on the fashion world, particularly with streetwear.
